Shareefa Aminah, known to the music world as Shazza, wrote her first proper song when she was all of 11 and has not been able to stop since. Born and raised in sunny Singapore, the 21-year-old singer-songwriter grew up surrounded by music at home, with the odd combination of Norah Jones and the Black Eyed Peas becoming the soundtrack to her childhood.
In 2020, Shazza put out her first two singles, August and It Takes Two. These experimental tracks were followed by the release of her first professionally-produced single, Pity Party, in 2022, which has gone on to garner more than 350,000 streams from all over the globe. Pity Party was also the first of Shazza's numerous singles to receive radio airplay from stations such as Singapore's 987 and Kiss92. The hit song was followed by Shazza's electronic pop banger Be Kind, which currently holds more than 150,000 streams across streaming platforms. Her recent tracks, one day and Right Person, Wrong Time come highly acclaimed as well, with the latter holding close to 200,000 plays. 2022 also marked Shazza's performing debut at Esplanade, where the singer-songwriter performed at Red Dot August, Baybeats and The Next Wave with her band. 2023 has seen the well-received release of Shazza's latest songs, Build A Home and None Of My Business, which gained more than 30,000 streams within its first week, as well as a riveting debut appearance at Esplanade's Pesta Raya festival.
Inspired by the likes of ABBA, Taylor Swift, Dolly Parton, and Maisie Peters, Shazza makes full use of the freedom that music offers, seeking to keep exploring with sounds and curating a discography that speaks to just about anyone.
The songstress also has her heart set on breaking boundaries and sparking change. Growing up, Shazza hardly saw anyone who looked like her making music the way she dreamed of doing. She aims to be the change, and to be that person for future generations, bringing more representation to the table with her music and her presence in the industry.
