There’s always collective pride when we hear about Singaporeans in the arts who have found success overseas. From Nathania Ong and Victoria Chen clinching iconic roles in major London West End productions to Anjana Vasan winning the UK’s prestigious Olivier Award for Best Actress in 2023—the Singapore flag has never flown higher.

But many might not know that there are many Singaporeans who have been making an impact off stage and behind the scenes. You might see their names in theatre programme credits but you probably would have missed them in person. Spread across the globe, they are specialists in everything from producing shows and managing artists to handling ticketing operations, and working in technical theatre and stage design.

We tracked down 10 of these overseas arts workers. Some have been working overseas for 20 years while others are just starting out. Some have worked with the biggest names in the arts and many are in-demand freelancers who frequently jet across the world to work. Amid their different journeys and motivations, they all share a common gung ho spirit of adventure and curiosity.

This time, we asked them to step into the spotlight and share their stories.
