Synopsis

Lebaran Tales is a colourful showcase of music and dance by homegrown performing arts company, Sri Warisan, that commemorates the Ramadan and Lebaran spirit of our forefathers. Immerse in the spirit of Ramadan and its many practices leading up to Lebaran such as malam tujuh likur, meaning the last 10 days of Ramadan. Sri Warisan will showcase a myriad of traditions and festivities of the Malay community such as the momentous Hari Raya dance, symbolic gestures for greetings such as the salam, beautiful traditional outfits and more. With captivating re-enactments and narration, Lebaran Tales will surely transport you back in time to the good old kampung days.

Sri Warisan is a performing arts company founded by Cultural Medallion recipient, Madam Som Said. Sri Warisan, formed in 1997, is one of the pivotal forces in Singapore’s Malay dance scene. Blending rich traditional forms with contemporary techniques is Sri Warisan’s trademark. Its performers are trained to excel in multi-disciplinary art forms such as dance, music, theatre and multi-media.
