Laying a keen foundation in listening awareness is especially crucial in kick-starting a student’s personal musical and creative instinct. In this workshop, Dr. Makarome shares strategies and activities that he has developed and used in the past decade to engage students in the study of jazz and improvisation. This class is targeted at music teachers who are trained in Western classical music and would like to develop their capabilities in the teaching of jazz.
This is a companion programme for educators, to Kita Thaka Thom: When Jazz meets Carnatic Music by Varsha.
