Is living a good life considered wishful thinking? Or is it something not too impossible to reach? It takes loud noises to know what silence is, darkness to know what light is, and sadness to know the true value of happiness.
Whilst better known for her original song Crush which was picked up by the Global Chinese Golden Chart Awards, singer-songwriter Zuo En’s bright vocals and quirky lyrics inspire a spring in one’s steps. Similarly, folk-pop artist JARVIS’ belief that “joy breeds joy” rung true when his uplifting single Let’s Drink rose to the third spot on iTunes’ Top 200 Rock Charts within three days.
Embracing the multifaceted beauty of life, join these two homegrown singer-songwriters for a folk-pop night in exploring both sides of a coin and learning the balanced state of mind.
in::music showcases some of the most inspiring Chinese singer-songwriters & bands performing their originals.

Zuo En is a singer-songwriter who wrote her first tune after being inspired by Taiwanese artists Mayday and Cheer Chen. Being fascinated with the emotions that music creates, she weaves them into her quirky songs tastefully, and uses her songs to express her love for sharing her emotions and thoughts. Zuo En has performed extensively in venues such as Esplanade, The Arts House and the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre. Her voice has been featured in songwriting competitions such as the Eco Music Challenge and SG:SW I Write The Songs. In 2019, her original song Unrequited Love was featured in Lianhe Zaobao’s Sing Our Song programme, where it was reworked by veteran producer Jim Lim. The song was picked up by the Global Chinese Golden Chart and it also made it into UFM 100.3’s 2021 U1000 chart, placing in the 237th spot. Zuo En released her first original album zuò in 2020.
