Synopsis

Theatre meets the ancient craft of taiji in《十》The Axis, a sublime and soulful storytelling experience about reaching deep within ourselves.

 

“Teacher, why do we begin always to our left?”

“Because that is the way the sun rises.”

The world is very quiet today.

And so, Ti picks up a brush and draws.

One line wide as the horizon, and a line tall as the sky. Then another. And another. And another. Until the earth is stained with ink.

Ranice Tay is a theatre artist and taijiquan practitioner who performs around the world. Her works are arresting and visceral, full of myth-making and embodied poetry, often exploring existentialism . Her duets with Ang Gey Pin, DREAMTALK and That Day That Book That Fell have been featured by festivals in Singapore and received critical acclaim. Besides practising theatre, Ranice also trains with the Singapore Traditional Wushu Elite Team. She is a multi-time gold medalist for taiji in national and regional competitions.
