Loh Hsiao Shan
Loh Hsiao Shan began playing the cello at the age of 10 and was accepted as a cello major at the then newly established School of the Arts, Singapore (SOTA) two years later. In 2013, she was awarded a full scholarship to pursue her graduate degree at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (NUS) under Singapore Symphony Orchestra’s principal cellist, Pei-Sian Ng. She completed her course of study at the Conservatory in 2017.
An avid and enthusiastic performer, Loh has performed with many established conductors in leading ensembles in Singapore and in internationally acclaimed performances and recordings. Given her extensive performing experience, Loh is frequently invited to play at various gigs and makes several concert appearances, including Lés Miserables the Musical (International Tour), Michael Bublé World Tour, and other curated programmes by the National Arts Council, Singapore. She has also given performances in Australia, China, Malaysia, the UK and USA.
Loh has been teaching both privately and in schools since 2012. She specialises in individually crafted programmes to suit keen learners of all ages, grades and background. As an active musician in Singapore’s performing arts scene, she would like to continue to work towards inspiring and building the next generation of cellists in Singapore.
