About SEEDLINGS
SEEDLINGS is a special programme that brings together a diverse group of enthusiastic and arts-loving children and encourages exploration, engagement and response to the children’s programming at March On 2026. Aged 9 -12, the SEEDLINGS play fun games, learn through workshops, discuss through dialogues, and also observe live performances and open rehearsals.
Since 2021, curious and creative SEEDLINGS have collaborated with industry practitioners to conceptualise and create activities and exhibits for the festival. These have been the perfect medium to express their ideas, opinions, feelings and discoveries.
The SEEDLINGs programme was first designed by Chong Gua Khee and Faye Lim (Derring-Do Dance), in collaboration with Esplanade’s March On festival programming team. This year, the programme is led by artist and educator, Jasmin Wong and co-facilitators, Justin and Afis of Taugeh Productions. Through SEEDLINGs, Esplanade seeks to nurture a child-centered approach to artistic experiences, enriching the March On festival and fostering meaningful engagement at Singapore’s national performing arts centre.

Hello! I’m Annisa. My world is filled with music and art. I’ve played the piano since childhood and taught myself the ukulele. I love drawing, enjoy learning crocheting, and dream of becoming a designer. I cherish time with friends, love traveling, and discovering new places. Thanks for getting to know me!
Hi there, hello! My experience in the arts has been varied! I am a dragon puppeteer and a piano student and have been learning drama when I get the chance! I have been learning piano for about four years now!
Hi, I’m Shlok. I love all forms of art, including music, drawing, dance and painting. Singing is one of my favorite activities, especially traditional and pop songs. In my free time, I enjoy drawing and painting, using colors and music to express my creativity. It helps me share my feelings.
I’m Deborah. I love drawing and painting, especially animals, which I find adorable. My favourite mediums are acrylic and watercolour. In 2025, my art teacher picked me to join the Singapore Youth Festival Art Exhibition, where I worked on a project for 10 weeks. I hope to study at SOTA one day.
Shane is his name
And he ain't one to tame
Loves changing the lyrics
Of songs ala S-Remixes
He has a lot of opinions
That he's not afraid to share
Talking to strangers
And peers with tender loving care
His special skill lies
In the folding things that fly
If you ask him nicely
He'll teach you aplenty
My name is Lisa. I enjoy sketching animals and buildings, which I picked up from an experienced YouTube artist who teaches drawing with shapes. I joined an art camp during the school holidays and explored new techniques. I also sang in a choral programme and performed at Victoria Concert Hall. My other interests include science and space, as well as sports like soccer and skateboarding, since I like moving around—whether running or playing soccer as a goalkeeper.
Hello, my name is Aayan. I'm interested in dance and music. I am also learning how to play the piano. I have performed dance in my school. I love to make people happy and I love to perform. I also do art and I'm very creative.
Hello, my name is Daanish. I've been playing the drums for about two years now and am learning marimba. I also knit, do woodwork and draw cats in my free time. I like fishing, playing games and reading. I am comfortable interacting with people and cats, but sadly not aliens. I have also perfected an art form that's neither here nor there – it’s six-seven.
Hi! My name is Lovisa. I began dancing at four and made my first cha-cha video at the Botanic Gardens. I learned art from a Kiwi artist and now draw weekly. This year, I am working on my Grade 2 music and joined my school choir. I love being outdoors with my brother, camping and hiking in nature parks and enjoy chatting with friends and family.
I am Tamanna. I have been performing on stage since I was 4 years old. I usually dance and act. I have been selected numerous times to emcee shows. In my spare time I like to read, sing and paint or draw landscapes inspired by how I feel.
My name is Ashvika, and an alumna of SEEDLINGS who has always lived with one foot in reality and the other in the world of the arts. Now studying theatre, I feel at home on any stage, in any story. When not creating, I watch movies or read. I think I belong in the dreamy haze of the early ’90s and enjoy long walks accompanied by good music.
I'm Nadia. I draw and sing and I have been part of a children’s choir for few years now. When not performing, I sing in the bathroom, any empty spaces and even in my dreams too! I am into the harp now, as it produces heavenly tunes! Being in SEEDLINGS, for the past few years, has boosted my confidence to perform publicly and connect with people of all ages.
My name is Isabella. I have been doing drama for about five years now and I really love it. My other sporting interests are climbing and swimming. Since I do drama, I am really good at holding conversations and I love talking.
My name is Alexandra, and I've been singing for about two years now. In my free time, I really enjoy exercising and writing poems. I also enjoy interacting with people, especially meeting new people and getting to know them.
First off, my name is Keira. Am I cooked for PSLE? Yes!
Anyway, my hobbies are drawing, reading and writing stories! Though, it's mostly writing about 3-10 pages before I scrap it or stare at the phrasing in horror after a day or two.
I have a pet rabbit, that looks like a potato. Do I have a specific music genre I listen to? Nope! It's literally just anything that sounds good to me. During my free time, you will find me scrolling, drawing, reading, or existing peacefully. My favourite colour is navy blue/ dark blue, specifically #11123A!
And lastly, I have no idea how to end an introduction so I'm just going to end this here.
Every year, the SEEDLINGS are tasked to explore new and fun ways to create and interact with the arts. This year, the SEEDLINGS will go through six weeks of activities preparing them to lead the mass games at the Esplanade Lawn and to facilitate workshops that teach adults “How to Have Fun!” at March On 2026
Weekly Reflections
They will have six busy weeks leading up to the festival! But not too busy to document the whole (chaotic) process. Read on to find out what they have been up to:
(Shoutout to our weekly photographers for capturing countless moments)
The youths had a fun time playing a mixture of games, getting to know each other, getting some sunlight, and getting their headshots taken!
Today's session started with some fresh air and sunlight. We played three more games at the Lawn, before retreating indoors, and the SEEDLINGS voted for their top three out of 10 games from both sessions. Final list of games that the SEEDLINGS loved are-Evolution Scissors Paper Stone, Noodle Race and Human Image Shape Shifting. We also huddled together for workshop ideas before ending off for the day.
This week, the juniors enjoyed sun, sea and fresh air at Changi Sailing Club, where Some Club members guided them to explore boat elements like pulleys and ropes while planning and building items for the March On installations. Meanwhile, the seniors stayed at Esplanade, previewing activation spaces for their March On activities. They got creative naming the workshops, designing festival merchandise, and creating advertisements. With ideas flowing and hands busy, it was a productive and inspiring Saturday for all.
Last Saturday, the SEEDLINGS journeyed to the west to join Some Club at their workshop. A short tour around the factory, checking out the mango tree and the 26 y.o. durian tree before splitting up into groups to focus on designing and making. The SEEDLINGS got down and dirty to the nitty gritty as they put together different materials using different techniques.
After taking a break, the Seedlings are starting to germinate.
During this week's session, the Seedlings did a recap before finalising the activities they will be facilitating. They also went down physically to check out the activation spaces and test out their ideas.
We also touched on the theme of teamwork, and how a bunch of Seedlings bundled together can weather any storm better than a single Seedling.
We ended the session with each Seedling expressing their gratitude for their fellow seedlings.
We're nearly there, in the final leg of the SEEDLINGS journey!
In a gentle breeze and under the clear blue skies, the SEEDLINGS have put all heart, memory and soul into rehearsing and practicing for their various activities. They are looking forward to meeting new friends and families at March On.
