Cherie is the first full-time female vocal percussionist (VP) in Singapore, and is a multifaceted musician whose portfolio includes choral conducting, a cappella coaching, vocal percussion, and audio editing and mixing.

Cherie, as part of MI6, an all-star team of Singaporean choral conductors, has led the Voices Festival Choir in several notable performances. Beginning with Voices A Festival of Song, organised by Esplanade in 2022, she has lent her expertise in contemporary a cappella to preparing the choir for their performances with notable international groups, such as the London Community Gospel Choir and The Idea of North. In 2022, she also arranged the opening song for the A Cappella Gala, a dynamic nine-part vocal arrangement performed as a collaborative effort by the choir and local a cappella group 1023.

Cherie has also worked with fellow Singaporean performers, putting up multi-dimensional shows featuring collaborations between musical instruments and vocal percussion. Regionally, she has also featured as the guest VP with the Young Kuala Lumpur Singers, and Malaysian vocal quartet Caipifruta. In striving for continued personal improvement, Cherie was part of the inaugural intake of YES Academy Singapore, a renowned artist mentorship programme by American Voices, designed to develop musicians with skills in songwriting, arrangement, and production.

As an educator, Cherie is the conductor of several Singapore school choirs, and coaches tertiary a cappella groups SUTD Vocomotives, NTU Harmonix & SIT Just Singers. She frequently conducts a cappella and vocal percussion workshops for schools, sharing her love for the art form with youths.

Yvonne Tay

A recipient of the prestigious National Arts Council (NAC) Arts Scholarship (Undergraduate) 2015, Yvonne Tay is currently the full-time guzheng musician at Ding Yi Music Company and co-founder of Z3nith Ensemble, a trio of guzheng graduates from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). Yvonne also serves as the Secretary-General of Singapore Qinzheng Association and as a member of Singapore Chinese Music Federation Youth Chapter.

An award-winning guzheng musician, Yvonne has performed extensively both locally and overseas. She has premiered works by renowned composers such as Wang Jian Ming’s Song of Elegance and Wang Dan Hong’s Ru Shi by Wang Dan Hong, etc., in Singapore. As an educator, Yvonne has been invited as a guest lecturer at conservatories in Singapore and Germany. She was also frequently invited to speak for the Singapore Chinese Music Federation and as an adjudicator for Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Chinese Music (Guzheng) Year-End Examination 2021.
