Hello, everyone. I’m Li Mengjie. My new solo show is called The Best Li Mengjie. It’s not about comparing myself to other comedians—I don’t want to, and frankly, I’m afraid of being compared. This name reflects an ideal state of life I aspire to: becoming the best version of myself.

The style of this show is absurd and fantastical. The feedback I’ve most often received from audiences is: “I’ve never seen this style before,” “This person is so weird,” and “It’s inexplicably funny.” Yes, if you’re looking for something different, you won’t go wrong choosing my show.

In this performance, you’ll see a 30-something me, who moved from the countryside to the big city, leaving my parents and hometown behind to chase my dreams. It delves into my struggles with urban life and my uncertainties about the future. Some parts of the show are inspired by the challenges and reflections I’ve faced during this stage of life. The foundation of my material is my pursuit of truth, kindness, and beauty—refusing to compromise.

The content of this show continues my usual approach of storytelling, weaving together big and small narratives. Of course, I know that the primary goal of stand-up comedy is to make people laugh, and I promise to deliver on that. But I also aim for something deeper: I hope to connect with you on a spiritual level beyond the laughter.
