This talk will focus on Xu Zhiyuan’s new book Unexpected Journeys and explore his travel essays in China and around the world over the past 15 years. Follow Xu Zhiyuan’s trajectory across China along the Aihui-Tengchong line, passing through Kolkata, Cairo and the land of happiness, and finally arriving at Malacca, Honolulu and Nagai Hefeng’s Asakusa.
There will be a book-signing session after the talk.
Xu Zhiyuan
Xu Zhiyuan, a well-known Chinese writer and founder of OWSpace, was born in Jiangsu in 1976. He graduated from the Computer Science Department of Peking University and was a visiting scholar at the University of Cambridge and the University of California, Berkeley.
He has published nearly 20 books. His main works include: The World of a Straggler, Those Sad Young Men, Liang Qichao: Young Revolutionary 1973-1898, Liang Qichao: Fugitive (1898-1903), among others. His works have also been translated into English, French, Korean and other languages.
