Discover the joy of movement and fall in love with dance at da:ns festival’s Footwork workshops. Conducted by professional instructors, these basic workshops are designed for adults aged 55 years old and above with little or no experience in dance.

There’s no better way to fall in love with dance than to try dancing yourself. Footwork gives you the opportunity to learn popular dances from the experts and pick up some moves in the months leading up to the da:ns festival, held from 13 – 23 Oct 2016. Cha cha cha is a Latin American ballroom dance that originated in Cuba. Known for its small steps and swaying hip movements, it is fun and easy to learn. Come discover the joy of the cha cha cha rhythm!

Salsa

Originally from New York City, Salsa has very strong influences from Latin America. It incorporates jazz and rock and has roots in Cuban Son, Cha Cha Cha and Mambo. This partner dance is fun, sensuous and is all about the rhythmn!

With roots that can be traced back to the first urban dance crews of 1960s New York, hip hop is a dance movement that has evolved to encapsulate a broad collection of street dance styles performed to hip hop music.
