Ria Papermoon

Ria founded Papermoon Puppet Theatre in Yogyakarta, Indonesia in 2006. Without a formal background in puppetry, she approaches the art form as a never-ending experimental journey.

 

She has successfully brought Papermoon Puppet Theatre to audiences worldwide through its performances, visual arts projects, and workshops for people of all ages.

 

In October 2021, together with Ayo Dongeng Indonesia, an Indonesian storytelling community, Papermoon Puppet Theatre initiated Indonesia’s first Festival of Theatre for Young Audiences, the Gulali Festival where Ria served as the festival’s Artistic Director.

 

For Ria, being close to the hearts of audiences is the reason she brings her puppets to life.
