Esplanade Concourse
Experience a vibrant musical kaleidoscope by Vanda Yanqin Chamber Ensemble Singapore, as they make their Esplanade debut as part of Huayi – Chinese Festival of Arts 2026. See how the vibrant sounds of the yangqin blends with the rich warmth of the cello in this collaborative performance, with a diverse repertoire including the Xinjiang folk song Lifting Up Your Veil and the classic Jiangnan bamboo silk tune San Liu.
Audiences can also look forward to original works and new arrangements, including Bianglala by Singapore composer Ridwan Syed.
Vanda Yangqin Chamber Ensemble
With the encouragement and support of renowned yangqin virtuoso and principal of the Singapore Chinese Orchestra, Miss Qu Jian Qing, Vanda Yangqin Chamber Ensemble Singapore was established in 2023. The ensemble comprises young players with rich performance experience, including those who have participated in competitions and international performances. They are also familiar figures in the Singapore Chinese orchestra music scene. Under the guidance of Miss Qu, the yangqin ensemble aims to promote yangqin playing and explore ensemble works, sharing them with a wider audience of not just Singaporean listeners and music enthusiasts, but internationally as well.
