Synopsis

Sri Teruna Jaya will present an evening of evergreen dikir barat tunes once sung by the legendary tukang karut, meaning song initiator, and tok juara, meaning leader from their iconic group in the ’80s and early ’90s.

 

With a special appearance by Si Anak Seni and Genbano to amplify the show with their choral singing and the musical ensemble, audiences can look forward to unforgettable dikir barat classics like Salawati, Ala Payong and Aidlifitri Terkenang.

Sri Teruna Jaya & Genbano

Sri Teruna Jaya established in 1983 is an iconic dikir barat group popular in the ’80s and early ’90s. This talented dikir barat troupe has won several national competitions and was the first in Singapore to record an album, titled Dikir Nusantara alongside Alang Ikan Duyung.

 

Established in the early 90s, Si Anak Seni is a regular companion and also known as the "little brother of Sri Teruna Jaya". The group is actively performing till this day.
