Synopsis

Come watch Sin Ee Lye Heng, a family-run Teochew puppet troupe to better understand their craft and be inspired by their passion to preserve this intangible cultural heritage.

 

Founded in 1977, Sin Ee Lye Heng is the last Teochew puppet troupe in Singapore. Being the final stronghold, the troupe now bears the responsibility of continuing this art from Chaozhou. Helmed by Tina Quek and her three children Christine Ang, Ang Wei Hao and Ang Wei Li, the troupe hopes to entice young Singaporeans to learn and appreciate this unique art form.
