Kathambam, a multi-genre and multi-ethnic musical concert, encompasses a kaleidoscope of melodies which draws inspiration from ancient poetry, Indian classical music, Folk music, Western elements, Oriental music and various languages.
Kathambam is a true amalgamation of Indian and western music, wherein songs from different parts of India are presented in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi / Urdu. From Shlokas and Bharathiyaar to Qawwali and Sufi music, the showcase is sure to mesmerize its audience with soulful singing, uplifted by a fantastic ensemble.
Kathambam as part of SIFAS Festival of Arts 2023 in collaboration with Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay will feature independent artists in Singapore, SIFAS teachers and alumni in a 20-piece ensemble unifying instruments of diverse backgrounds and ethnicities.
Guru Debasish Adhikary
MASTERS IN MUSIC & SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT
Guru Debasish Adhikary received an MA from Rabindra Bharati University and is currently pursuing his MPhil in Instrumental Music. His achievements include a national scholarship from Ministry of Culture, India.
GRADED ARTIST OF DOORDARSHAN
Guru Debasish is B-high graded artiste from All India Radio and Doordarshan.
NATIONAL COMPETITIONS & PERFORMANCES
He has won several national competitions and has also performed internationally. He has had the opportunity to perform with eminent artistes like Pt. Sohan Lal Sharma, Pt. Venkatesh Kumar, Pt. Amiya Ranjan Bhandhopadhyay, Ustad Raza Ali Khan and many others.

Guru G Prakash
Guru G Prakash has been a Western and Carnatic keyboard instructor for the past 18 years.
ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS
His achievements include receiving distinctions in keyboard from Trinity College, London, and being awarded a Shree Vidhwan in Classical and Western Keyboard in Grade 8 with Distinction and a Vadhya Visharadha Diploma in Mridangam, Gatam and Kanjira from the Tamil Nadu Government Music College, Chennai. He had studied under the tutelage of Guru P Venkatsubramaniam and Guru Papanasam K R Chandru for Carnatic keyboard, and Guru Avey Kannan and Guru Chandra Mohan for Western keyboard.
PERFORMANCES & AWARDS
He also has had the opportunity to perform at the Tamil Nadu Government Music College and at Kalaignar, Jaya and Sun TV for musical programmes. In 2015, he was awarded the Best Teacher Award as part of the Sahana Fine Arts Annual Day. His most recent award in January 2019 is Vadhiya Praveena from Sravanalaya Isai Peedam, Chennai.

Guru Janaki Sadagopan
ROOTS
Guru Janaki Sadagopan comes from a family of musicians and learnt music from her mother, Ms. Rajeswari Sadagopan. She then joined Gana Kala Vidya Nilayam in Goregaon, Mumbai where she learnt music from Mrs. Sampoorni and later Mrs. Girija Narasimman. She participated in various competitions in schools and colleges winning more than 50 prizes.
ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS & POSTGRADUATE
She is a BA Music graduate from Tamil Nadu Government Music College, Thiruvaiyaru and was a disciple of Prof Dr. P Uma Maheswari. She stood 2nd in music from Bharathidasan University. She also has a postgraduate in Music from Seethalakshmi Ramaswamy College, Trichy and achieved top ranking.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
She has taught music for more than 5 years in Mumbai and Coimbatore. She currently also teaches Carnatic Vocal at the School of the Arts (SOTA).

Guru Mihir
ROOTS
Guru Mihir initially trained under Shri Sabyasachi Sengupta and went on to do his guru-sishya parampara with the tabla maestro Pt. Sankha Chatterjee. He is equally adept in three Gharanas –Farukhabad, Punjab and Delhi because of his training in Pt. Sankha Chatterjee School of Music.
AWARDS & TITLES
A regular artiste in All India Radio and Doordarshan, he has received the prestigious Jadubhatta award from Saltlake Cultural Association (Kolkata) and Talmani award from Sursinger Samsad (Mumbai). Guru Mihir also holds the title of Sangeet Visharad and Sangeet Vibhakar from Lucknow Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapith.
PERFORMANCES
He has shared the stage with many distinguished artistes such as Pt. Jagadish Prasad, Pt. Ajoy Pohankar, Pt. V G Jog, Pt. Kartic Kumar, Pt. Samaresh Chowdhury, Pt. Amiya Ranjan Bannerjee, Pt. Manilal Nag, Ustad Ali Ahmad Hussain in India and abroad. Guru Mihir has performed extensively in India, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Italy and Southeast Asia.

Guru Nishanthie Jeganathan
THE KALAKSHETRA FOUNDATION
Guru Nishanthie Jeganathan hails from Sri Lanka and is an experienced dancer and teacher. She holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Bharatanatyam from The Kalakshetra Foundation and was part of the Kalakshetra Repertory Company from 2009-2010.
FESTIVALS & PERFORMANCES
She had performed extensively at festivals and temple events in India and in other countries, including the 36th International Film Festival of India in Goa, Dance Festival in Chengdu, Shringara Festival, ISKCON Bangalore and Ananya Festival.

She has choreographed for and trained numerous SIFAS students amongst whom many have excelled during annual examinations and external performances under her guidance.
Guru Nishanthie Jeganathan joined SIFAS in October 2014.
Guru P Sushanth
Guru P Sushanth who hails from Chennai is an experienced, seasoned vocalist and teacher.
ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS
He has a Diploma in Classical Music from The Kalakshetra Foundation. He also has a First-Class Certificate in Higher Indian Music from the Government of Tamil Nadu.
PERFORMANCES
Guru Sushanth has performed extensively for classical dance concerts, including Bharatanatyam arangetrams. He is a versatile singer, able and accomplished to sing in various languages and styles.
