The River Valley High School Choir is renowned for its vibrant choral programme and longstanding tradition of musical accomplishments.
Join them as they bring you songs that celebrate the illumination and joy that choral music has brought to their lives collectively, spanning across generations. Under the baton of conductor Choy Siew Woon, the choir will present a repertoire that revolves around the potency of music and the indomitable human spirit. This includes choral works by Bob Chilcott, Moses Hogan, Imant Raminsh and Pēteris Vasks, alongside a medley of songs from the musical Les Misérables.
Bringing the arts to communities in need through Limelight
Half of the ticket proceeds will go toward supporting Esplanade’s community engagement programmes which bring the arts to at-risk youth, the elderly, people with special needs and other underserved communities.
River Valley High School Choir
Under the direction of conductor Choy Siew Woon, the River Valley Chorale (Secondary Choir) and Chamber Singers (Junior College Choir) have cultivated a rich tradition of musical accomplishments and accolades, earning international awards in Italy, China, the Czech Republic, and Singapore. At the recent Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation 2023 for choirs, both choirs were awarded the Certificate of Distinction. Demonstrating their commitment to sharing their talents with the community, the choirs engage in various service initiatives. Apart from performances at school events such as ReVerie and Honours Day, the choirs have also sung at external events including carolling at Gardens by the Bay, as well as the Ministry of National Development’s National Day Observance Ceremony.
Most recently, the choirs held a full concert, L'Aurore, at their school auditorium. The choir is thrilled and honoured to perform again for Esplanade’s Limelight series, together with their alumni choir. They come together to celebrate the light and joy that choral music has brought to their lives collectively, spanning generations. The choirs will come together to present an array of choral music that revolve around the power of music and the indomitable human spirit. This includes popular choral works by Bob Chilcott, Moses Hogan, Imant Raminsh and Pēteris Vasks, as well as a medley of songs from the musical Les Misérables.
