Under the baton of Mdm Tan Soh Hwa and Mr Chua Tiong Hong, Crescent Girl's School Symphonic Band presents their 11th Limelight Concert in collaboration with Esplanade. Expect music highlights such as Le Carnival des Animaux by composer Camille Saints-Saëns, Toy Box Fantasy by composer Hiroki Takahashi and highlights from Lalaland by composers Justin Hurwitz, Justin Paul and Benj Pasek.
The band, which turns 56 this year, is guided by its motto “Et Bientot le Meilleur” (The Best is Yet to Be). Performers will always put in their best efforts with zeal and zest to achieve what they set out to do. The band has garnered many accolades since its establishment in 1967, from adjudications at Singapore Youth Festival, Singapore International Band Festival and National Band Competition. They will continue to make better music together and seek to share good music with others.
Apart from staging public performances and taking part in music festivals, the band is also very active in various school events and functions. The members also regularly contribute through paying-it-forward projects, mentoring and working with primary school bands as part of their values-in-action programme.
Bringing the arts to communities in need through Limelight
Half of the ticket proceeds will go toward supporting Esplanade’s community engagement programmes which bring the arts to at-risk youth, the elderly, people with special needs and other underserved communities.
