Synopsis

Matilde Tommasini, the Italian-born contemporary dancer-choreographer, is known for her dynamic fusion of classical and contemporary techniques, drawing from acrobatics, Butoh, improvisation and a range of street styles movement influences, such as hip hop, breaking and dancehall.

With her guidance, unleash your individuality through movement in this contemporary dance masterclass and discover the power of your own unique style.

This intermediate-level masterclass is suitable for experienced dancers with minimum two years of training in hip hop and/or contemporary dance, and have a keen interest to expand and develop their unique styles and expressions.

This masterclass is part of da:ns focus – FL/OW (The FULL OUT Weekend): four days of street dance and culture—performances, masterclasses, and a party—showing what street dance can be beyond the conventional.

Born in a small town in Italy, Matilde started her dance journey at the age of three. At age 13, she started her professional training first in Italy and then moved to the Netherlands to complete it at Codarts Rotterdam as a contemporary dancer. The development of her existing movement language happened in the eight years of collaboration with Amenti collective, where she could exchange and confront herself with various street dance styles, which enriched her language and gave her the possibility to create a unique style.
