Yarning
Yarning explores the relationship between movement/dance and the rhythmic/vibratory structures, textures, and metaphors embedded in the gestures of weaving/crocheting/stitching/sewing/knitting. While “horizons” are typically associated with the sky and outdoor spaces, in this project, Bhardwaj examines the minute “internal horizons” that exist in the creases, stitches, and folds of the material body to examine notions of time, body, self and the other.
A series of durational movement/video installations that Meghna first began creating in the year 2021 (initial iterations supported by Artefact#2 Creative Residency, Dance Nucleus, Singapore), Yarning seeks to study the spatial, temporal, and emotional connection between the yarn/thread/act of crocheting and the body. On display will be new works in the series that Meghna has developed, in collaboration with Alecia Neo and Marcel Zaes, at and with the support ofthe residency.
Patrons are free to enter and leave the venue anytime they wish between 6.30pm and 8pm, and explore the exhibition presented as part of this programme while the artist is performing. Do join in the Question & Answer session at 8pm.
