Who could resist familiar hits like (They Long to Be) Close to You, Yesterday Once More, Rainy Days and Mondays, and This Masquerade? These timeless classics have become part of the musical canon and will be performed by Carol Gomez and the Sound Collective.

Artist Information

Carol Gomez (Singer)

Growing up in a family of musicians, Carol Gomez developed a natural ability to interpret each song in her own distinctive style. She grew up listening to classic pop, blues rock, country and western music, and later in her teenage years, jazz and blues music. Her main influences include Dr. John, Ella Fitzgerald, Taj Mahal and Ray Charles.

 

A sensitive and passionate musician, Carol brings discipline and dedication to every performances, express through the music she delivers. Her adaptability, versatility across genres and years of experience have established her as a sought-after performer at reputable events all over Singapore.

 

She has performed for Channel 5’s Live the Dream in 2007, at the Istana for then-President Tony Tan and F1 head Bernie Ecclestone, as well as various music festivals and international events.

Daniel Chai (Guitarist)

Daniel is a triple award-winning graduate of Musicians Institute, Los Angeles and also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from the National University of Singapore.

 

He has toured and played in numerous pop concerts, as well as in a wide range of local and international musical theatre productions. He also sessions and produces music across various genres and platforms from his studio, Daniel’s Room.

 

Daniel also runs his YouTube channel, Daniel Chai Guitar which he continues to develop as part of his creative work.

 

Passionate about sharing his experience and knowledge, Daniel teaches at LASALLE College of the Arts and School of the Arts (SOTA) in Singapore.

 

He feels blessed to be playing music and hopes he is able to bring a little joy to the world through his craft.

Bobby Singh (Drummer)

Bobby Singh began his music career at a very young age, growing up in a musically inclined family. His journey started at the age of five as part of the family band. He later became a student at the Pracheen Kala Kendra Music School in New Delhi, where he graduated in Indian classical music. He specialises in the tabla, one of the most revered instruments in Indian classical tradition.

 

In addition to Indian classical and Western music, Bobby has expanded his musical versatility to include Eastern European influences. He now plays a wide range of percussion instruments —essentially any skin instrument that produces sound. A sensitive and passionate musician, Bobby’s dedication and discipline are evident in the expressive quality of his performance.

 

Bobby is proficient in a variety of musical styles and genres including pop, jazz, Brazilian and Latin music. His ongoing exploration of world rhythms has led him to become a recognised figure both locally and internationally. His adaptability and improvisational skills, honed through years of experience and exposure, have allowed him to perform alongside a host of reputable artists from Singapore and beyond.

 

A skilled session musician, Bobby also specialises in African and Latin American rhythms. He is particularly adept at playing Western drums and the Peruvian cajon (drum box). Other percussion instruments he plays include Indian skin drums, congas, bongos, timbales, djembe, udu, darabouka, surdo drums, tamborim and timbal.

 

Beyond performance, Bobby has been appointed by Singapore Ministry of Education and the National Arts Council to teach music.

 

Bobby has performed live with an extensive list of artists including James Ingram, Asia Beat, Wendy Koh, Mark Chan, Farrid Ali, Kalyani Anandaji (Bollywood Music Producer) Jeremy Monteiro, Clarrissa Monteiro, Marina Xavier, AnneVerrapass, Larry Francis and Zubir Abdullah (Music producer).

 

He has performed in China, Korea, Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia, Dubai, Brunei, Seoul, Taiwan, and Europe.

Matthew Siew (Keyboardist)

With a foundation in classical music, Matthew Siew has built an engaging 20-year career in the music industry. On stage, Matthew serves as a music director—forming and preparing bands for live events and concert performances. In the studio, he works on music arrangement, notation, recording and production for a range of creative projects. In the classroom, he teaches music appreciation, analysis, knowledge and application to students and bands, guiding them to experience music in the same transformative way he did years ago. Today, he continues to collaborate with like-minded musicians on stages both big and small, always grateful for the opportunity to share the beauty of music with others.

Wah Yong (Bassist)

Wah Yong plays both double and electric basses across various genres of music.

 

He has played for musicals including Kimberly Akimbo, Phantom of the Opera, The Lion King, Company, Next To Normal and Ride The Cyclone; operas such as Turandot, Madama Butterfly, The Merry Widow; ballets including Swan Lake (Bolshoi Ballet Company), Stuttgart Ballet’s Onegin and English National Ballet’s Corsaire.

 

More recently, he has performed for Singapore International Festival of Arts 2025 (The Sea and the Neighbourhood and Hossan-AH! In The High Arts), Marvel Studios’ Infinity Saga Concert Experience (2025), Dim Sum Dollies: History of Singapore Sixty Sexy Years (2024), Raghajazz Tidal Streams ( Esplanade’s Kalaa Utsavam – Indian Festival of Arts 2024), Disney In Concert- Tale As Old As Time (2023, 2022), Crazy Christmas- Balls of the Belles (2023), Broadway Beng (2023) and A Singaporean in Paris (2022).
