Synopsis

Journey through tales of heroism, landscapes and tradition with the Marsiling Chinese Orchestra. This concert presents a vibrant selection of Chinese orchestral highlights, from the dramatic pipa ensemble piece Ambush from Ten Sides《十面埋伏》and the expressive dizi duet Sentiments of the Loess Plateau《黄土情》by Qu Chunquan, to familiar melodies such as A Smile in the Martial World《一笑江湖》and Dare to Ask Where Is the Road《敢问路在何方》. The programme also features traditional favourites like Dance of the Yao People 《瑶族舞曲》composed by Liu Tie-Shan and Mao Yuan, bringing lively ethnic colours and rhythmic energy to the stage.

  • All children must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are required for all patrons including infants in arm.

  • Tickets are available for booking on a first-come, first-served basis. Should the event be fully subscribed, limited tickets may be made available when ticket-holders return their tickets. If you did not manage to get tickets, do check this event page regularly to see if tickets are available.

Marsiling Chinese Orchestra (MCO) was established in June 2004 through a collaboration between the Marsiling Citizens’ Consultative Committee and Marsiling Secondary School. The orchestra aims to promote Chinese Orchestra music within the local community.

 

By providing a platform for graduates of various school programmes, MCO nurture talents and fosters a sense of cultural enrichment. The orchestra exemplifies the power of collaboration in preserving cultural heritage and fostering community spirit.
