Celestial Harmonies

The MacPherson Philharmonic Orchestra (MPPO) was established in 2017. Led by conductor Lester Kong, the orchestra comprises of volunteers from diverse backgrounds with the common goal of pursuing excellence in orchestral performance and sharing their passion for music with the community.

MPPO has organised a variety of public concerts catered to different audiences, including Music Day Out, Little Music Explorer, Progression, and private concerts for the President's Office and Singapore-China International Business Organisation. Some of MPPO’s most notable achievements include a concert, Reimagining Tradition: Women of Teochew Music, presented to President Mdm Halimah Yacob, in collaboration with Nam Hwa Teochew Opera. The orchestra is also known for The Light, an orchestral performance video they made in response to the COVID-19 and which to date has reached over 300,000 viewers.

With its unique performances and collaborations, MPPO has demonstrated its dedication to musical excellence and community engagement, and continue to inspire and move audiences of all backgrounds through the power of music.
