Synopsis

Not A Clarinet Choir (NACC) presents familiar arrangements of beloved band repertoire, reimagined for clarinet ensemble. The programme features First Flight by local composer Terrence Wong, arranged by Ralph E. Lim, Debussy’s The Girl with the Flaxen Hair, and classic band repertoire such as The Seventh Night of July, Shepherd’s Hey, Second Suite in F, and English Folk Song Suite.

Not A Clarinet Choir is a mosaic—a Singapore-based collective of clarinetists and musicians from different backgrounds. The ensemble aims to explore the possibilities of clarinet music and push its boundaries, with an open mind for collaboration and a keen ear for detail. NACC is led by music director, Brian Lim.

 

In March 2022, they hosted their debut concert, Musings, to a full house. With continued success, they presented a second rendition, Musings 2, in December 2023 to a sold-out crowd, setting the stage for their recurring concert series. Building on this momentum, they presented Musings 3 in October 2025. The group also participated in the Singapore International Band Festival 2022 (Ensemble Division 1) and clinched the first prize, Gold with Distinction, with the highest score across the entire ensemble divisions.
