Esplanade Black Room
Support young talents in an enchanting student recital, featuring the expressive voices of double reed instruments. Emerging oboists and bassoonists will present both solo and ensemble performances, showcasing technique, artistry and collaboration. The programme blends timeless Baroque elegance with modern favourites, featuring music by Marcello and Merci alongside beloved melodies from Disney and Studio Ghibli films. Join these dedicated students as they bring stories, emotion and imagination to life through music—a charming afternoon for families, friends and music lovers everywhere.

Patrons who have registered will have priority entry to the venue.
Patrons who have registered must arrive 5 mins before the start of the event to guarantee your admission.
Patrons who have registered but are not at the venue 5 mins before the start will have their seats released to walk-in patrons on a first-come, first-served basis.
Limited seats are available at the door.
Seating will be assigned by Esplanade’s ushers.

Benny Zhu
Benny Zhu is a 15-year-old oboist who has been studying with teacher Rui Qing for the past five years. He is deeply passionate about music, and currently performs with Singapore National Youth Orchestra (SNYO), United World College Wind Ensemble and Band Academy. Benny will be performing works by Marcello as well as familiar tunes from Disney and Studio Ghibli films, alongside his fellow oboists, Grace and Penny.
Haydn Lee
Haydn Lee was named after the famous composer Joseph Haydn. Like his namesake, Haydn has a deep passion for music and has been studying the bassoon with his teacher, Miss Kee, for the past three years. He attends St Andrew’s School (Secondary) and continues to pursue his love for music. Haydn will be performing works by Merci and some light ensemble tunes with his bassoon friends, Matthew, Travis and Danrui.
