Synopsis

Join Charmaine and her student Qi Qin for an exquisite evening of musical exploration as they showcase the timeless elegance and versatility of the harp in classical solo works and fun collaborations with other instruments. Immerse yourself in the wide range of colours the harp has to offer through glossy glissandos, shimmery harmonics and the realms of harp composers Henriette Renie and Caroline Lizotte.

Winner of the President’s Young Performer Concert 2021, Charmaine Teo is a concert harpist lauded by The Straits Times for her “nimble fingers and consummate musicianship” during her solo debut with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. She has clinched top prizes in international competitions such as the Camac Harp Taiwan Competition and been invited to perform at a plethora of international events including the Asia Harp Festival. Her orchestral endeavours took her to perform with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Sichuan Symphony Orchestra. Outside performing, Charmaine enjoys teaching and is currently Harp Lecturer at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.

Lim Qi Qin

Lim Qi Qin (b. 2003) is a Singaporean harpist and is passionate about learning and music-making. She began her musical journey at a young age with the piano, followed by the violin and the harp, and in 2020, the viola. 

 

As an avid music collaborator, Qi Qin is an active member of the Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra and explores chamber music with her peers. 

 

At present, she is a degree student at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts’ School of Music) in Singapore, studying music performance in harp under the tutelage of Charmaine Teo.
