Synopsis

Breathe invites you on a journey of tunes to quiet the mind, ground the senses and take time to breathe. This performance features classical arrangements on the harp, including music by Dowland and Mendelssohn as well as a little improvisation.

Artist Information

Fontane Liang

Fontane Liang enjoys a fulfilling portfolio career as a harpist with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra and a Senior Music Therapist at the Institute of Mental Health and Jurong Community Hospital.

 

She has garnered international accolades including winning a place on the London Sinfonietta Academy, Pacific Music Festival and in the Franz Josef Reinl Competition. International performances have taken her from Tokyo’s Suntory Hall and Hanoi’s Opera House to London’s Royal Albert Hall and Royal Opera House.

 

A graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (GSMD), London (UK), Liang also obtained her Master’s in Music Therapy and held a Fellowship at GSMD from 2011 – 2012. During her formative years in London, she performed extensively as a recitalist with Yehudi Menuhin’s Live Music Now and Bach to Baby. In demand as a chamber and orchestral musician, she performs regularly with highly acclaimed contemporary music groups Riot Ensemble and Octandre Ensemble, appearing on BBC Radio 3. She has trialled for Principal harpist with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and performed with London Sinfonietta, London Symphony Orchestra Chamber Ensemble, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Germany’s MusikFabrik.

 

Liang is passionate about sharing her knowledge with the next generation and was Principal Study Lecturer at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore) and taught on Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra’s Young Learner’s Programme.
