Band Weekend is back with even more wind and brass ensembles.
Relive fond memories of tunes from evergreen pop groups such as ABBA, The Village People and Queen, along with familiar big band tunes from Glen Miller and Benny Goodman, Mandopop and Top 40 chart hits from Sia.
nWinds will also be having a play-along session at 7.15pm. Audiences are encouraged to bring their instruments and play along. Scores will be provided!
Mask-wearing is optional. However, audiences are encouraged to continue to exercise responsibility and caution, such as wearing masks when in crowded places. No tickets will be issued. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Formed in 2018, nWinds is a performing arts society formed by a group of passionate musicians and educators that want to do their part for the Singapore band community and its students. The “n” in nWinds is drawn from the algebraic letter, which can refer to any variable, thus symbolising their belief in the ability to display the wide array of styles and genres in any given setting with any combination of wind players.
Making its debut in 2018, nWinds was chosen to be the demonstration ensemble in masterclasses for the band directors and band students that participated at the Singapore Band Clinic held at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music. In 2019, nWinds made their debut at Esplanade’s Cool Classics: Band Weekend with its brass, saxophone and percussion sections. nWinds also collaborated with the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in June 2019, holding a successful project that housed over 100 students from all over Southeast Asia, promoting the art of playing a wind instrument.
