Synopsis

Was there a song your mother would sing? A place etched in your memory? Or perhaps a rite of passage you are encountering or leaving behind? These are our shared experiences. Moments in time that we all encounter in some form or other. Same same, and not all that different.

 

Love. Land. Life. is a musical performance that illuminates our shared experiences, through a musical exchange by members of the Straits Ensemble (comprising oud, pipa, violin, piano, and double bass), led by composer, bassist, and father-of-two Felix Phang.

Advisory:

Mask-wearing is not required, though encouraged, for outdoor events. No tickets will be issued. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Singaporean composer Felix Phang grew up playing symphonic band music and discovered jazz at Berklee College of Music. An independent artist navigating tradition, constant change and a confluence of cultures, he seeks to make sense of his surroundings by experimenting with ethnic, western and new instruments. Felix is motivated to share culture through composition, performance and education on national and international platforms. including the International Society of Jazz Arrangers and Composers Symposium both in 2017 and 2019.

 

Felix holds an adjunct position in the Composition department at LASALLE College of the Arts (Singapore) and serves as Head of Music & Drama Company.
