Synopsis

This show will showcase original experimentations in a half-spoken, half-sung style—featuring compositions made over the last two years. Expect poem-songs about people who have come and gone in the pandemic, love and other missed connections.

Artist Information

Anson Fung

Anson Fung is an experienced cross-genre guitarist. Self-taught since age 15, he decided to pursue a career in music and enrolled in LASALLE College of the Arts. Anson regularly performs for corporate events and private functions, and has also played with several notable local and international artists, such as Benny Golson, Alemay Fernndez and Jeremy Monterio. Besides performing, Anson also manages and leads his R&B acts, Grind Effect and Anson Road, his blues band The Blues Initiative, and his jazz groups, the Anson Fung Organ Trio, Guitar Trio and Quartet.

Jennifer Anne Champion is a poet, literary arts educator and embroiderer. She is the author of A History of Clocks (2015) and Caterwaul (2016), and co-founder of the archive poetry.sg. She was Singapore’s digital poet-in-residence at the National Centre for Writing in Norwich, UK in 2021. Jennifer is interested in multi-modal presentations of poetry and has spent the past two years experimenting with sound and visuals, particularly with textiles, in tandem with her writing. This Esplanade performance will be an extension of her work tying poetry with music.
