Synopsis

Show and tell your loved ones how you feel in a workshop on showing appreciation for the people around you.

Flower Watering is a workshop designed around the practice of showing appreciation for your loved ones, a ritual that can be practised at home daily to nurture a sense of gratitude and contentment.

Parents and children experience making paper flowers together and pen gratitude notes to verbalise their appreciative thoughts for one another that are often hidden and left unsaid. The final gifting ritual lets the participants leave with the warm words of their loved ones to remember a ritual they can practise every day in the comfort of their homes.

To explore the activity with freedom and confidence, parents and children will be doing the activity independently.

Artist Information

Forest and Whale

Wendy Chua and Gustavo Maggio lead Forest and Whale, a practice where design is a mediator between fields and an agent of change. They design products, services and experiences that redefine the way people live, age-in-place and gather as communities. They have worked with Lien Foundation, Rainbow Center, AWWA Home, and Montfort Care among others, in their socially engaged work.

Selected for the 2024 EU STARTS artist residency ReSilence, their recent work BLOOMS explores unseen coastal climate issues through mixed-media art-science installations to engender a deeper sense of empathy with the sea around us.
