Synopsis

This multi-year project is devoted to original compositions influenced by architecture, visual arts, literature, science, and movement. Drawing inspiration from trumpeter Dan Wong’s life experiences, the musical project unfolds as a multi-sensory work that audiences experience viscerally.

Each show is broken into a series of short musical sections that develop into a larger conceptual narrative.

In 2024, the musical project explored architectural and scientific geometries of famous buildings in Singapore and around the world. Mathematical concepts such as Lorenz attractors, long-tailed distributions and gradient descent functions also inspired their abstract sonic narrative.

Their 2025 showcase drew from a diverse range of inspirations—the pulse of an adumu dance performed by the Maasai tribe, the rhythm produced by a bouncing ball, the ink used to paint a picture of a misty Sapporo mountain, and the random, delicate motion of butterfly wings.

This year, the Jazz Eigenvectors revisit favourites and continue to follow their curiosity across diverse sources of inspiration.
