In:Formal brings together four Singapore-based musicians whose shared musical language blends sophistication with improvisation, groove, and exploratory play. Drummer Benjamin Low draws on 15 years of international jazz and electronic performance, balancing timekeeping with dynamic, expressive rhythm. Pianist Hans Charis adds elegant touch, lyrical construction, and thoughtful harmonic framing. Bassist Eugene Seow contributes a unique musical awareness honed from multi-instrumental fluency, cross-cultural rhythmic curiosity, and deep compositional experience across jazz, classical, and contemporary settings. Guitarist Joe Lee—lead guitarist for the Jazz Association of Singapore Orchestra (JASSO)—brings tenderness, grit, and soul to their music. Together, they create jazz that is sophisticated, deeply human, and immediately inviting.
