Pianist Amanda Lee and her trio pay tribute to the legends of swing and jazz, interweaving stride piano, swing, bebop, and classical music through a programme of well-loved standards and original compositions.

Amanda Lee

Known for her flair for swing and stride piano, Amanda Lee trained in Kansas City with master stride pianist Bram Wijnands. She was awarded a scholarship to attend the New York Hot Jazz Camp in 2020 and has since performed at festivals and venues across Europe and Asia.

 

She is a member of the Traveling Janes, an international all-female traditional jazz band, and leads the Amanda Lee Swingtet, whose aim is to spread the joy of jazz from its roots and beyond. The Swingtet is a regular presence on Singapore's jazz scene and has also performed internationally.

 

Amanda teaches jazz piano and she is also a senior teacher and performer at Jazz Inc, a lindy hop and swing dance collective led by jazz dance specialist Sinclair Ang.

Raf Soundwalker

A drummer and percussionist since his youth, Raf Soundwalker has had more than 20 years of experience performing in Singapore and across Asia, spanning a wide range of genres including pop, rock, funk, fusion, Latin and jazz. His love for jazz and improvisation has led him to becoming a tireless student, performer and educator in the local music scene. In 2019, he represented Singapore as Grand Finalist in the Global Drum-off (Rhythm Duo).

Nobu Shiraishi

Born in Japan, not just a double bassist, he also performs on the piano and composes songs which fuses various musical elements from around the world, has been reviewed as "avant-garde, but seamlessly blending with culture and nature." In his music career of more than 25 years, he has performed at numerous clubs and also jazz festivals such as the Detroit Jazz Festival and Thailand International Jazz Conference.
