Want to learn how to age gracefully? Gain insight on healthcare for seniors in this talk that introduces the basics of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Find out more about how to maintain your health in your later years, common health conditions and simple ways you can lead a healthier lifestyle.
Mask-wearing is optional. However, audiences are encouraged to continue to exercise responsibility and caution, such as wearing masks when in crowded places.
Note (for pre-registered audiences):
1. Registered patrons will have priority entry to the venue.
2. Seating will be assigned by our Esplanade ushers.
3. Please arrive 5mins before the start of the performance to secure your seat.
4. Seats will be released to walk-in patrons thereafter on a first-come, first-served basis.
Tan Koon Yaw
Tan Koon Yaw is a recognised practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). He has a PhD in TCM, is a Vice Principal, Head of Academic Department, Head of Centre of Continuing Education of Singapore College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as Registered TCM Practitioner.
Koon Yaw obtained his PhD Degree (TCM) from Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, Bachelor Degree (TCM) from Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine and Singapore College of TCM. He also obtained his Master of Science (Electrical Engineering) and Bachelor of Science (Honours in Mathematics) Degree from National University of Singapore.
Currently, he is appointed as Vice President of the Third Council of TCM Diagnostics Committee of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, Director of the Third Council of Education Instruction Committee of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, Executive Director of the Second Council of Pelvic Floor Multidisciplinary Committee of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies and member of Specialty Committee of TAN Syndrome of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies.
In the Singapore College of TCM, he is a lecturer and clinical tutor. He currently practises in Singapore Chung Hwa Medical Institution.
Prior to joining Singapore College of TCM, he had 15 years of experience in Information and Cyber Security. He previously served as Deputy Director in Monetary Authority of Singapore, Senior Consultant at Infocomm Development Authority and Research Analyst at DSO National Laboratories.
