Tea is an important part of both Chinese and Indian cultures, having been cultivated in both civilisations from ancient to modern times. Today, China and India are the largest producers and consumers of tea in the world, each with the own unique traditional cultures with regards to tea.
In line with the Singapore spirit of celebrating multiculturalism, Fort Sanctuary advocates for an extended concept of tea without borders. Lau Kiat Boon, director of Fort Sanctuary, will share his experience in creating contemporary tea experiences to connect with everyone, regardless of race, language or religion.
Kiat Boon will share insights into how some of the world's finest specialty teas are crafted in Singapore using the highest quality tea leaves harvested in China. In particular, he will share his discovery of the phenomenal characteristics of resting tea leaves in Singapore. Though tea plants are not the happiest on this tropical island, marrying unique firing methods with resting in Singapore delivers some of the world's finest specialty teas with distinctive character in exceptional intensity, richness, clarity, texture, and finish.
