Training in Huqin Ensemble Performance – A Case Study on Picking Red Water Chestnuts

Renowned huqin virtuoso and Festival Artist Yang Xue will lead Hunix Bowed-String Ensemble (Malaysia) to demonstrate and discuss the erhu quartet piece, Picking Red Water Chestnuts, sharing insights into aspects such as multi-part listening, section relationships, tonal balance and musical interpretation. Drawing from over a decade of experience in huqin ensemble teaching, performance, composition and instrument making, Yang Xue will explore the science behind huqin ensemble training and discuss the development of the music.
