Presenting two new song cycles by composers Gu Wei and Chew Jun An, Traverse: A Migrant Stories features the works of twelve migrant worker writers, telling stories of their thoughts and experiences living in Singapore through poetry. This event highlights the creative possibilities between artists from all walks of life, highlighting the importance of embracing every contribution to the vibrancy of our Singaporean culture. The voices of Rachel Lim and Keane Ong, with cellist Tzu-Jou Yeh and pianist Mervyn Lee, tell stories where A Miscellaneous Poem on Singapore Island (Hou Wei) celebrates her beauty, finding the meaning of home while pondering on a Morning Ornate Rainfall (Menik Sri Bandar), longing for the Beginning of Autumn (Zhang Haitao) and Distant Love (Mahbub Hasan Dipu). Tales of being amidst feelings of an Empty World (Ramasamy Madhavan), like a lonely Scarecrow (Rea Maac) In this City (M.R. Mizan), asking “Am I Wrong? (Novia Arluma)”. But There is Hope (Windu Lestari)—the Immortal (MD Sharif Uddin) hope of chasing Windfall Dreams (Mohiuddin) and Victory (Zakir Hossain Khokan).
