West Winds celebrates 30 years of music making since its humble beginnings in 1993. What started as a place for
people from all walks of life to come together and share their common passion for band music, has grown and
developed into a community with a strong local presence. This concert will be a special one for the audience and
our members alike as we look back on the various concert themes explored by the band throughout the years. Our repertoire will feature pieces like Music for a Festival, Traveler, East Coast Pictures, Magellan's Voyage to Unknown Continent and Kungfu Panda. Join us as we embark on an Epic Journey through West Wind’s history!

About West Winds
West Winds was formed in 1993 with the support of the People’s Association and Bukit Batok Community Club.
The band was started with the vision to create a place where musicians in Singapore can gather for the love of
band music. As a non-profit group, we rely on the support of our patrons and supporters to sustain the band.
With its identity as a community band, West Winds is dedicated to bring music to the community by promoting an
awareness and appreciation of band music. Committed to offering members of the public the opportunity to enjoy
free musical performances, West Winds regularly holds free, non-ticketed concerts at our home ground, Bukit
Batok Community Club. Our annual concerts have become a highlight in the local band scene calendar, often
attracting mass bookings from Secondary school bands. West Winds has also been in regular collaboration with the
Esplanade to stage widely successful sold-out themed concerts such as the multimedia concert, “The Enchanted
World of Hayao Miyazaki” in September 2014, which led to a second concert as part of a series in September 2015.
Furthermore, the band also actively promotes band music at the school level. The “West Winds Community Series”
is the band’s school outreach programme where her musicians would visit a school and share their love and
knowledge of music with the younger musicians. The culmination of the outreach programme is a joint
performance by West Winds and the school band which is open to the residents of Bukit Batok.
“West Winds Community Series” offers the school musicians an opportunity to perform and learn from our
musicians and, together with our performances, underlines the band's desire to contribute to the local band music
scene.
