In 1974 the legendary jazz pianist Bill Evans (1929 – 1980) entered the Columbia studios in New York with his trio and a large orchestra to record the remarkable album Symbiosis for the German jazz label MPS.
This extraordinary composition by Claus Ogerman (1930 – 2016), a heady, bewitching fusion of symphonic and jazz elements, has never been performed live in concert – until now.
The Singapore Symphony Orchestra pays tribute to the genius of Bill Evans, together with jazz pianist Thomas Clausen and his trio, completing the evening with the Bill Evans Suite written by composer-trumpeter Palle Mikkelborg for the Bill Evans Trio.
