Songs of Our Forefathers

Lirica Arts presents a groundbreaking recital "Songs of Our Forefathers" featuring art songs in our local vernacular in Cantonese, Hokkien, Hakka, as well as in Mandarin, chartering a voyage into the realm of Chinese Art Song repertoire and exploring the song literature of our forefathers and our local art song tradition.

The programme spans a broad spectrum of music which ranges from traditional folk tunes to songs in local dialects with the influence of melodies and music from Hokkien and Cantonese opera, to contemporary settings by modern day composers.

The concert will feature Singapore renowned opera baritone Martin Ng with a special appearance of Taiwanese soprano Cheng Szu-yun who will perform art songs by Taiwanese composers.
