Synopsis

“Do what the composer did, not what he wrote,” so said veteran American pianist Garrick Ohlsson of Rachmaninoff. The famous fate-laden opening of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 here is only the beginning of the sweeping Romanticism and dazzling flair of two back-to-back Rachmaninoff programmes led by Singapore Symphony Music Director Hans Graf. Be prepared for a tear-inducing journey of heartfelt emotion – this is the music that brought Rachmaninoff out of despair and into immortal fame.

You are strongly advised to be seated 15 minutes before the performance start time. Latecomers will only be admitted at appropriate pauses during the show or during intermission, if any.
