Called the “Van Cliburn of today” by the BBC, pianist Alexander Kobrin has placed himself at the forefront of today's performing musicians.
Alexander Kobrin is the winner of numerous international piano competitions – besides being awarded First Prize at Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2005, and Third Prize at International Chopin Piano Competition in 2000, he has garnered top prizes from the Busoni, Hamamatsu, and Glasgow International Piano Competitions.
Besides performing at major halls worldwide, Mr. Kobrin has been an active guest soloist with leading famous orchestras throughout his career as well. He has been a jury member for many international piano competitions, including the Van Cliburn, Busoni International Piano Competition and others.
Currently, Mr. Kobrin is the professor at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York.
Alexander Kobrin’s piano recital in Esplanade, besides presents the music of Beethoven and Chopin, he will also present Rachmaninoff’s music to commemorate the 150th birthday of Rachmaninoff.
