KC always felt that you only get what you give. He believed strongly in meritocracy, that if you worked hard enough—regardless of your background—the future would be bright. It was all about self-determination, and that’s what he always told the students of his class, “The future is yours to make!”
Well, except Nadia. He doesn’t know what to tell Nadia. And now, he doesn’t know what to tell her parents at the Parent-Teacher Conference. Maybe it’s true that you only get what you give, but for some, you have to give a whole lot more.
Pekung explores the themes of diversity, inclusion and equity told through the lives of those who forget and those who are forgotten.
This is a closed-door, by-invitation event only.
Mask-wearing is optional. However, audiences are encouraged to continue to exercise responsibility and caution, such as wearing masks when in crowded places.
Johnny Jon Jon
Since his first full-length play in 2006, Johnny Jon Jon’s works have evolved from being thought pieces on socio-political constructs to ruminative explorations of the human condition set within the characteristics of a minor literature.
Besides the critically acclaimed Hawa (2015) and Potong (2018), his works include National Memory Project (2012), Family Dinner (2017) and Punggah (2020). May 2022 saw Jon Jon publishing Potong: To Care/Cut, bringing together Hawa and Potong into a single book, introducing the two plays to a new generation of audiences.
When not writing plays, Jon Jon writes short stories and facilitates design thinking workshops. He currently lives with his better half as they try to get their start-ups (children) to become unicorns.
