Songs from a Woman’s Heart is a celebration of songs about love by women composers including Amy Beach, Alma Mahler and Pauline Viardot.
Rebecca Chellappah
Singaporean born mezzo soprano Rebecca Chellappah graduated with a Masters in Music with Distinction from the Royal Northern College of Music, UK, a place she now calls home.
Chellappah enjoys an international singing career and has sung in opera, oratorio and given well received recitals across Europe and Asia. Her opera credits include the title role in Bizet’s Carmen, which won National Opera and Dramatic Association UK Best Operatic production 2018, Delilah in Saint-Saëns Samson and Rosina in Rossini's The Barber of Seville.
The intimacy of art song holds a special place in Chellappah’s heart and she is elated to able to present these lovely songs on a Singapore stage. Chellappah also teaches singing online and enjoys helping her students of all ages find and develop their voices.
Pauline Lee
Pauline Lee graduated with a Master's degree (MMus) and Fellowship of the Royal Schools of Music (FRSM) from Royal Northern College of Music, UK. Winner of Silver Prize in Asia International Piano Academy Festival & Competition in Korea and Pianist Prize in Chris Petty English Song Competition, Lee has also performed in concerts, festivals and events in England, Wales, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore. She was selected to participate in the notable Lucerne Festival am Piano masterclass with Andreas Haefliger, which culminated in a performance at the KKL Luzern Hall.
Today, Lee is an active chamber musician, accompanist and répétiteur in Singapore. She has played for various opera companies, such as Singapore Lyric Opera, New Opera Singapore, The Opera People and L'arietta Productions. In addition to running a private teaching studio, Lee keeps a happy schedule performing recitals and working as an adjunct accompanist at School of the Arts (SOTA). She is grateful to her inspiring teachers Stephen Savage, Martin Roscoe, Oh Hye-Rin, Gan Choo Kheng and Lucien Wang for everything they have generously taught her.
