Synopsis

Join musical theatre powerhouses Izzul Irfan, Medli Dorothea Loo, and Nadya Zaheer as they perform original songs from the musical-in-progress, Batal Must Fall by Myle Yan Tay and Nathaniel Mah.

 

Accompanied by Joanne Ho (piano) and Nathaniel Mah (guitar), the performers will present five songs and scenes that have never been heard before, and may possibly never be heard again (it is a musical-in-progress, after all!).

 

Nathaniel, the composer and lyricist for Batal Must Fall, will also share insights on the collaborative process of writing a brand-new original musical.

 

Batal Must Fall is an original musical by Myle Yan Tay and Nathaniel Mah that explores the rapidly evolving effect the internet has on our daily lives and closest relationships.

Performers

Izzul Irfan, Medli Dorothea Loo, and Nadya Zaheer are professional theatre and musical theatre performers who have featured in productions such as Four Horse Road (The Theatre Practice), Snow White & The Seven Dwarves (Wild Rice), and Secondary: The Musical (Checkpoint Theatre) respectively.

 

Joanne Ho is a pianist and musical director, who has music directed shows such as The LKY Musical (STC) and A Spoonful of Sherman (SingTheatre).

 

Creative Team

Nathaniel Mah is a songwriter, sound designer, and audio engineer. He is the composer and lyricist for Batal Must Fall.

 

Myle Yan Tay is a writer of plays (Brown Boys Don't Tell Jokes, Checkpoint Theatre) and prose (catskull, published by Ethos Books.) He is the book writer for Batal Must Fall.
