Experience an intimate evening showcase of Javanese classics rearranged as ballads, performed by Malay musician and composer Syafiqah ‘Adha Sallehin and gamelan practitioner Rosemainy Buang. Gather this evening and be treated to the sweet vocal melodies from the island of Java.
Mask-wearing is optional. However, audiences are encouraged to continue to exercise responsibility and caution, such as wearing masks when in crowded places. No tickets will be issued. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Rosemainy Buang is a gamelan musician, composer and educator. Having been trained in gamelan for the past 10 years, Rose looks forward to expanding her practice through creating and collaborating with other practitioners of different art forms. Fuelled by a philosophy rooted in gamelan, where the relationship between musician and music trumps technical ability, Rose aspires to ascend towards rasa, the highest form of aesthetics in karawitan.
Syafiqah 'Adha Sallehin

Syafiqah 'Adha Sallehin (b. 1990) is a music composer, performer and educator. She graduated from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor’s degree in Music (with Honours) and a Masters of Music in Music Composition in 2016. Syafiqah’s music embodies a unique voice that stems from her footing as a classical-trained musician and a traditional arts practitioner. Her compositions often incorporate elements of her national identity, cultural heritage, and themes of myths and fantasy. She also enjoys composing cross-cultural works that involve the syncretisation of various ethnic instruments. Her recent works include a commissioned orchestral composition performed by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra in 2021 for its national day concert.
