Three friends, a monkey, giraffe and hippo come across a mysterious object that turns out to be a classmate they have never “seen”. What does it mean to not be seen and to remain “invisible”?
The Invisible Pangolin is an interactive theatre piece that seeks to explore friendships; being seen; what it means to say “no” and giving space.
This showcase will consist of a performance and a facilitated discussion with the artists.
Co-producers: Lynn Chia and Dr Jaisilan Sathiasilan
Director: Stanley Seah
Playwright: Dr Jaisilan Sathiasilan
Cast: Cheryl Tan Yun Xin, Val Teh, Shaik Nazray, Tejas Hirah
This showcase is part of PLAYlab, a developmental platform at Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, targeting budding artists or collectives interested in Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) for children three to six years old. PLAYlab aims to provide opportunities for research and development in the creation of new TYA productions at the centre.
Dr Jaisilan graduated from NUS Medical School in 2013 and has since gone on to pursue his dreams of being a theatre actor and playwright.
He champions medical and social issues through his written plays. His script I’m Not Okay was part of the Pathey Nimidam Festival 2022, which raised awareness on depression among the Indian community.
He was last seen in My Invisible Life by Gateway Arts in his debut lead film. He can be easily kidnapped with briyani or chicken rice.
Lynn is an actor, host and drama teacher. She graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts in the BA (Hons) Acting programme.
Theatre provided her an avenue to exercise her creativity and she intends to do it for a long time.
