Synopsis

To encourage physical wellnes, dancers Dinie Dasuki Osman and Zairin Abdul Latiff will conduct an online dance-fitness session, specifically aimed towards fitness exercises for seniors.

 

During this workshop, instructors will be showcasing simple exercises while incorporating Malay dance moves. The simplicity of this workshop makes it suitable for everyone regardless of age. This segment will allow you to spend time together with your loved ones while keeping fit and doing an educational activity together.

 

Muara Festival is presented by Era Dance Theatre in collaboration with Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay as part of Esplanade’s Pentas series.

Artist Information

Dinie Dasuki Osman

Dinie is a dancer, instructor, and emerging choreographer with Era Dance Theatre. Under the tutelage of renowned choreographer and artistic director Osman Abdul Hamid, Dinie started dancing during his school days with National Junior College (NJC) Malay Dance Group. He continued to pursue his interests in traditional and contemporary Malay dance with the National University of Singapore (NUS) Ilsa Tari, People's Association (PA) Talents and is currently a full-time practitioner with Era Dance Theatre.

 

Dinie has a keen interest in traditional and contemporary forms. An avid learner, Dinie participated in various workshops and masterclasses to hone his craft in traditional/ classical dance such as Aceh, Minang, and Balinese styles, and also choreography. His recent contemporary Malay piece “Resonance” won him the Most Popular Award at Sprouts 2015, organised by National Arts Council and Frontier Danceland. Dinie also holds a Specialist Diploma in Arts Education from the National Institute of Education (NIE) International, supported by the National Arts Council (NAC). 

Zairin Abdul Latiff

Zairin has become a staple name in the Malay dance scene in Singapore. His development in dance is mentored by Mr. Osman Abdul Hamid, an established and prolific choreographer. Throughout the years of dancing and practice, he has developed his own style in choreography. He has a knack for perfection in his choreographies, where he pays close attention to the details and techniques of his dance.  His ability is apparent in the accolades he received.  He clinched many top awards for his school such as Distinctions for the SYF Arts Presentation and 1st prizes for Malay Dance Competitions, ‘Festari’ and ‘Persada Juara Tari’.  He is one of Era Dance Theatre’s lead choreographers. He has been involved with numerous productions and festivals with the groups. He is a capable leader who drives and motivates his dancers, allowing them to achieve the best. He is seen as a role model to the younger dancers.
